Iran Launches Bushehr Nuclear Station

Over a week ago, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton said there was only a week left for Israel to attack Iran ‘if it wants to stop the Islamic Republic from creating a nuclear armament.’
Over the past weekend the Bushehr nuclear power plant loaded its first fuel, prompting the U.S. State Department spokesman Darby Holladay to announce that it does not present ‘a proliferation risk.’
Holladay said, the Bushehr reactor is designed to provide civilian nuclear power. He emphasized the Russian involvement with the plant as an indicator that the project ‘intentions are purely peaceful.’
In Saudi Arabia a very different point of view was expressed. “Tehran is moving its conflict with the international community into high gear,” the Al Madina daily wrote, “and some may consider the military option to be the best solution.”
The United Arab Emirates ambassador to Washington said, “A military attack on Iran by whomever would be a disaster, but Iran with a nuclear weapon would be a bigger disaster.”
Ambassador Yousef al-Otaiba was blunt. ‘We cannot live with a nuclear Iran.’ I am willing to absorb what takes place at the expense of the security of the U.A.E.”
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad warned, his country would respond to any attack on the Bushehr nuclear plant with a “harsh and painful” retaliation that would “encompass the whole world.” (From a Stratfor news report)
Regarding Israel, Ahmadinejad said, “I don’t believe their American masters would let them attack.”
What we feared may have come upon us and our ‘experts’ were hoodwinked big time. Consider this extract from ‘The Rise of Nuclear Iran’ written by former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Dore Gold.
“From 2003 to 2005, Iran’s chief negotiator was Hassan Rowhani. He represented Iran in the key negotiations that resulted in the temporary suspension of its uranium enrichment activities in 2003. Despite being replaced in August 2005, anything he said about Iran’s nuclear programme was extremely sensitive. He made a staggering disclosure in a speech delivered in a closed-door meeting in Tehran as he was leaving his post, when he bragged he had successfully outmaneuvred, and essentially deceivec, the Western powers, led by the European Union with whom he had negotiated: ‘When we were negotiating with the Europeans in Tehran, we were installing equipment in parts of the facility in Isfahan.’ Isfahan was known by Western intelligence agencies to be precisely where the Iranians had erected a facility for completing the second important stage in the production of fuel for their clandestine nuclear weapons programme.” (The Rise of Nuclear Iran, Dore Gold, Regnery Publishing, New York)
Dore Gold subtitled his book “How Tehran Defies the West.”
That the Bushehr plant is now operational highlights how weak and impotent the so-called world powers have been proven to be, at least when Iran says, ‘Boo!’
The USA confronted North Korea over their nuclear possibilities. It is less then effective with Iran, which has much greater potential to destabilize U.S. ambitions in Iraq and Afghanistan. For example, as U.S, troops leave Iraq, Iran prepares to move in. Iran has the capability to seriously disrupt shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which would seriously impact an already fragile world economy.
Just days before Bushehr became active, the Obama administration said it believed it will take a year for Iran to get to nuclear weapon status.
They comforted the world saying the United States and Israel would have time to consider military strikes but still assured us their economic sanctions will force a result.
Ambassador Bolton said, “I don’t think there’s a ghost of a chance that the Obama Administration will use force against Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” Bolton said.
“If anyone will do it, it’s going to have to be Israel – and I don’t know what Israel is going to do… I am very worried that Obama’s fallback position is to accept an Iran with nuclear weapons. I think that can have potentially catastrophic consequences in the Middle East and beyond – but I think that’s where the Obama Administration is,” Bolton said.
We hold the greatest power and authority to make an effective stand in such an environment.
Consider this.
“O God, do not remain quiet; Do not be silent and, O God, do not be still. For behold, Your enemies make an uproar, And those who hate You have exalted themselves. They make shrewd plans against Your people, And conspire together against Your treasured ones.” (Psalm 83:1-3)

“The LORD lives, and blessed be my rock; And exalted be the God of my salvation, The God who executes vengeance for me, And subdues peoples under me. He delivers me from my enemies; Surely You lift me above those who rise up against me; You rescue me from the violent man.” (Psalm 18: 46-48)

“Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God.” (Psalm 20: 7)
