Netanyahu’s New Peace Plan – The Lord’s Old One.

The Creator spoke very powerfully and specifically about His nation Israel. “….I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing.” (Gen. 12: 2)

What happened to such a promise on the way to today?

Other Scriptures demand serious consideration.

“Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.” (Zechariah 12: 2,3)

Jerusalem is described ‘as a cup that causes reeling to all peoples.’ The siege specifically mentions Judah. ‘All the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.” Are there signs developing which indicate these verses might be fulfilled in our time?

Israel is facing more and more isolation by the international community. The current unrest throughout the Middle East and northern Africa threatens to be with us for some time. The longer it goes the more we can expect to see petrol prices escalate and an impact likely to affect millions.

The refugee crisis is already alarming as hundreds of thousands flood out of Libya across the borders.

At home, Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu is facing mounting pressure from his own cabinet ministers, who want him to reveal details of a new Middle East peace plan, the cause of much local media speculation.

Netanyahu apparently has a new plan to establish a Palestinian state with provisional borders as part of ‘a long-term interim agreement.’ The details he planned to explain when he visits Washington in May. But senior Israeli cabinet ministers believe Israel has been seriously isolated by the international community a concern which has continued to grow, since the peace talks with the Palestinian Authority stalled.

“A declaration before the (U.S.) Congress in May would be far too late,” Ehud Barak, Israel Defence Minister told public radio. “The world will not accept that we continue to rule over another people after 43 years,” he said.

International Reality

Intelligence Minister Dan Meridor, a member of the Netanyahu inner circle, worried that the international community will recognize a Palestinian state without deferring to the peace talks process. “We have to be proactive before calamity hits, before we are isolated,” Meridor told army radio.

Last week Netanyahu talked about feeling international pressure on the sensitive settlement construction issue. “We are currently making efforts to maintain the existing construction, but we must understand that we are in a very difficult international reality,” Netanyahu said.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has refused to negotiate on peace talks. “I’m not aware of the details of the plan that Netanyahu is going to present, but I know in advance that there is a plan, which had been presented in the past which is based on establishing a state with temporary borders. So if he wants to present the same plan, we won’t accept it,” Abbas told a press conference this week.
One gets the feeling Abbas is holding out. He does not fear confrontation from the Obama camp, in fact he might feel their weakness is the right time for some push and shove of his own.
By holding firm he gains time and in that downtime the international community may deliver the state without Israel participating at all.
Certainly Fatah has found anti-U.S. momentum it has not publicized before. CBN News reported, ‘Local Palestinian councils in east Jerusalem intend to boycott the U.S. over the Obama administration’s veto of he U.N. Security Council resolution labeling Jewish ‘settlements’ illegal.” (CBN Thursday, February 24, 2011)
Boycott America.
The boycott was to target American-made goods, government officials, aid groups, journalists, and the U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem.
Analyst Carolyn Glick observed, “Abbas’s humiliation of Obama was only the first volley in the Fatah leader’s campaign against the US.
“Abbas, Salam Fayyad and their PA ministers have sent paid demonstrators into the street to protest against America.
“They announced a boycott of American diplomats and journalists. They have called for a boycott of American products. They have scheduled a “Day of Rage” against America for Friday after mosque prayers.” (February 25, 2011)
The pressure is mounting as Arab organizations no longer fear America. Fatah is upping the ante, expecting Hamas to be strengthened considerably, in the very near future, by Moslem Brotherhood support from Turkey and Egypt.
The fiery flames sweeping the Middle East and North Africa as well as the turmoil across the U.S.A. today could be interpreted as a fallen world in chaos.
It could also be seen, the nations of the world are being positioned against Israel. We know from the Book of Revelation the nations are deceived.
History is happening before our very eyes. It is well to remember it is His-Story. He has warned us that our security and assurance is in Him alone.
The days of the enemy are numbered.
“And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” (Rev. 12: 9)
I urge you to watch world events and seek the Lord and His Word for wisdom.
