If you have followed my articles for a while, you are aware of the Mahdi or the twelfth Imam. This is the messianic figure that energizes the Iranian regime including the Ayatollah Khameini and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
A video has surfaced called ‘The Coming is Near’ it signals that the Mahdi is about to appear. The signs of this event are said to be the protests and revolutions in progress throughout the Middle East and north Africa.
CBN News released the story of the video and were able to report on how significantly it has inspired the Iranian regime. They spoke to Reza Kahlil, a former member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, who actually shared the video with them. Kahlili, according to the CBN report, worked as a double agent for the CIA inside the Iranian regime.
Iran Will Rise
“Just a few weeks ago, Ahmadinejad’s office screened this movie with much excitement for the clerics,” Kahlili told CBN News. “The target audience is Muslims in the Middle East and around the world.”
“The video claims that Iran is destined to rise as a great power in the last days to help defeat America and Israel and usher in the return of the Mahdi. And it makes clear the Iranians believe that time is fast approaching,” the CBN analysis said.
According to the video, Islamic scriptures including the Hadith, predicted the transformation of nations in the Middle East. In the programme the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood is also analyzed as a prophetic sign of the soon revealing of the Mahdi.
Even the ill-health of King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is significant. Abdullah is Iranian opposition. He rules a powerful Sunni Arab Moslem nation. Iran is Shi’ite Moslem and Persian not Arab. “Isn’t the presence of Abdullah, his illness, and his uncertain condition, great news for those anxious for the coming?” asks the video’s narrator.
Muslims believe that Muhammad was the last prophet and messenger of God. Muslims also believe God will grant total and comprehensive victory to Islam over other religions. The Koran specifically promises victory for Islam.
“He (Allãh) is the one who sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with the guidance and the religion of truth so that He may grant victory to it over every religion.” (The Koran 9:33; 48:28; 61:9)
Faith in predictions like this one, fuels Iranian vision and purpose. “Not only corrupted and despotic rulers but the United States and other world powers with an aggressive nature will finally suffer a defeat by nations and God’s promises will come true,” Khamenei said.
The Mahdi’s Agent
In August last year, Middle East expert Joel C. Rosenberg issued this warning: “The Ayatollah is signalling that he personally is the Mahdi’s agent on earth. This is a significant development. Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, called on Muslims in neighboring countries to intensify preparations for the coming of the Islamic Messiah known as the Mahdi or the “Twelfth Imam.” He specifically urged Muslims to mobilize forces to defeat the United States and Israel.
“We have to train honest forces that can stop the obstacles that may hinder the coming of the Mahdi like the United States and Israel,” the Ayatollah said through a spokesman, in a story reported by al-Arabiya, the Arabic-language news channel based in the Gulf.
Not so long ago, Ahmadinejad spoke strongly of defeat for the enemies of Iran. The Iranian president said “an Islamic awakening is taking place in the world,” saying that a “major movement is underway and we can see its signs in every corner of the globe.”
It is so easy to shrug off the faith of these men. But those who are elected and appointed to protect freedom and democracy in our world must be consciously aware of the motivation behind the energy empowering them.
In his August, 2010 comments Joel Rosenberg made this observation: “Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s spokesman, Ali Saeedi, said countries like Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan and Afghanistan should gather together all their forces in order to make drastic changes to prepare for the coming of al-Mahdi al-Montazar, Arabic for the awaited guided one,’” reported al-Arabiya. The story did not specify what “drastic changes” the Ayatollah had in mind.
“Saeedi also said that the supreme leader of Iran is the direct representative of the Mahdi and that obeying him is like obeying the ‘guided one,’ who is the prophesized savior of Islam,” explained the report. “‘Since the armed forces are commanded by the Supreme Leader, they are thus obeying the orders of the awaited Mahdi,’ Saeedi said, adding ‘the Revolutionary Guards and the armed forces in Iran hold religious authority to prepare for the appearance of the Mahdi.’”
Saudi Arabia has declared its intention to press forward towards building nuclear power plants. This is seen as a clear plan to counter the Iranian nuclear threat. Sunni Moslems versus Shia Moslem, armed with nuclear or even near nuclear devices, do not make for peaceful thoughts.
Maybe as Rosenberg suggests, we are getting closer to the War of Gog and Magog. (Read Ezekiel 38)
