Wikileaks: 100 rockets on Tel Aviv per Day!

It’s a jawdropping statistic. Writing for JTA, Ron Kampeas announced: “In the next war, Israeli officials expect Hezbollah to fire about 500 missiles a day at Israel from Lebanon, including 100 that will reach Tel Aviv, leaked cables show.”

Just for a moment, pause to consider that possibility. Thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of people could die in such a brutal barrage and apparently this is information already known to the political powers that be.

Haaretz, which claims to have a massive file of Wikileaks documents, reported, Hezbollah is expected to fire 24,000 to 36,000 rockets and missiles into Israel in a war lasting two months. The Haaretz analysts say they have telegrams ‘sent from the U.S. Embassy” which sum up talks ‘between American and Israeli officials in November, 2009’ This tells us American and Israeli officials are discussing the likelihood of such an attack. In 1983 a special committee was formed called the Joint Political Military Group. They have conducted meetings to assess this current situation.

Yossi Melman headed the Haaretz team studying the Wikileaks documents. In his report this emerged: “The IDF and Israel Defense Intelligence argued that Hezbollah’s ultimate goal during any future conflict is to launch a massive number of missiles and rockets daily into Israeli territory, including those that can reach the Tel Aviv area,” the telegram said. “Defense officials highlighted the continued desire by Hezbollah to avenge the assassination of its former military commander Imad Mughniyah, and pointed to failed attempts to do so in Azerbaijan and Egypt.”

The same documents show grave concern by Israel over “smuggling [from Syria and Iran to Hezbollah]” According to Haaretz. “The Israelis said that since the Second Lebanon War Hezbollah “increased its quantity of sophisticated arms with improved range and accuracy.”

Melman’s report continued: “Military Intelligence officers presented estimates of Hezbollah’s arsenal in Lebanon. “Hezbollah possesses over 20,000 rockets, hundreds of 220 mm and 302 mm rockets, several hundred Fajr rockets, hundreds of simple anti-tank (AT) launchers with rockets and missiles, and hundreds of advanced anti-tank wire guided missiles (ATGM), dozens of SA-14, SA-7 and QW-1 anti-aircraft guns, several Ababil unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), an unknown quantity of C-802 coastal missiles and up to thousands of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).”

The devastating potential revealed, must cause all of us to pause and ponder the obviously lethal possibilities. For a moment consider the work of the anti-christ as described graphically in Daniel. “At the end time the king of the South will collide with him, and the king of the North will storm against him with chariots, with horsemen and with many ships; and he will enter countries, overflow them and pass through. He will also enter the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall; but these will be rescued out of his hand: Edom, Moab and the foremost of the sons of Ammon.

“Then he will stretch out his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape. But he will gain control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the precious things of Egypt; and Libyans and Ethiopians will follow at his heels. But rumors from the East and from the North will disturb him, and he will go forth with great wrath to destroy and annihilate many. He will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful Holy Mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him. (Daniel 11: 40-45)

It’s not so long ago, such prophecies, would have been considered ‘out there’, unlikely or a long way from fulfilment. Today there is volatile action in this region and we can more readily contemplate such events, in our time.

The Iranian regime openly professes their belief in the soon return of the Mahdi (the Islamic messiah). They have explained, the sign of his coming will be evidenced by catastrophe and chaos in the world. Hezbollah is a military wing of that Iranian fanaticism, and is ready, equipped and armed to the teeth to play its part in their anticipated outcome.

I love the encouragement found in words attributed to Rabbi Sherwin, “The challenge is not how to escape death, but how to sanctify life.” Earlier, I spoke of Hezbollah being a militant wing of the Iranian regime. It’s time for us to recall we have some wings of our own.

“Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, That hovers over its young, He spread His wings and caught them, He carried them on His pinions.” (Deut. 32: 11) Our nest is being stirred. Have you noticed? But we will be carried in those majestic wings.

Maybe the very thought of escalating trials throughout the world makes you weak at the knees. It’s at times like this I remember looking for my Daddy. That is still true.

“He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.” (Psalm 91: 4)

The most important value we must have in these times, is to know that our relationship with Him is active, vital and real. After all the proverbs says: “No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked are filled with trouble.” (Prov. 12:21)

Be with Him, during these times.

Reading your article encourages me to believe the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to take His people out must be near. I accept there is serious trouble for Israel, but I believe that Jewish and Arab believers in Israel and elsewhere will be protected:
Rev 3:10 Because you have kept the word of my patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. By protection I mean they will be caught up to be with the LORD. All believers have a wonderful hope.
